Danny Kanell Says The Broncos Should Go After Brady With Late Hits In Order To Send A Message
A lot of people are very upset about this, but let me tell you three things:
1. It’s hard to get all that upset over the words of a grown man who dresses like he’s in an Old Navy commercial. Shirt and tie, hoodie, and blazer, Danny? Little much.
2. You know who totally agrees with Kanell? A man named Tom Brady. You want to pop him a second late, willingly take a flag, and give him a short field in the AFC Championship? Oh yeah, Tom will take that hit all. damn. day. The guy hasn’t lost this year with all his receivers, he hasn’t lost with a healthy Julian Edelman since 2014 (it’s 2016), and you want to make that field 15% shorter so you can send a message? As if he’s some wet behind the ears rookie who’s never played in a tough game before and is going to get scared? Be both my guest and do so, but you’ll be doing it at your own peril. Tom Brady doesn’t get rattled. He gets mad, and when he gets mad he destroys you.
3. This just sounds like someone is just still a little upset about the time Brady beat him, back in 2003, and Kanell threw for a whopping 163 yards with a legendary 44% completion rating. Stuck with you for 12 years but you were finally able to let that anger out, chief.
Nonetheless, nice to see ESPN still holding their guys to the incredible journalistic standards of “hurt the guy a bit, send a message.” If Kanell had given this advice to the Patriots defense and told them to hit Manning a “Technical Difficulties” message would’ve popped up on screen while the cast of Sunday Countdown came out and beat Kanell to death.
